Welcome to Mrs. Anthony's Webpage!
My name is Lauren Anthony and I will be your child's teacher this year. I am originally from Greenville, SC. I graduated from Clemson University with a BA in Early Childhood Education in 2003 and graduated in 2006 from Columbia College with a Masters of Education in Divergent Learning. This is my ninth year teaching. I taught first grade in Anderson County before making the move to Batesburg-Leesville. I taught kindergarten for six years at BLPS and this is my second year teaching first grade. I live in Leesville with my husband, Trey, and our two sons Luke and Dalton.
First grade is very different from kindergarten and I am excited to see your child's growth this year. You will see tremendous gains in your child's reading and math abilities this year. Having said that, first grade is also a lot of work! It is important that you read with your child every night and guide them through this year. Your child will have a successful year with support from school and at home. The first grade curriculum is driven by the South Carolina State Standards. It consists of English Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Health, and Science. Our day will be busy with all of these things. We will learn our Science, Social Studies, and Health concepts through theme studies. Students will participate in guided reading, shared reading, writing, mini-lessons, and read alouds. You may view the first grade standards at the South Carolina State Department of Education website.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns throughout the year. The best way to contact me is through email. My email address is lanthony@lex3.k12.sc.us.
I look forward to having your child this year in my classroom!
Class Rules:
1. Be Safe 2. Be Responsible 3. Be Respectful
If your child has a great day at school then a smiley face will appear in his/her agenda.
Consequences:
If a child does not follow the rules he/she will have to walk laps at recess. You will be informed of your child's behavior either by a note in the agenda or a phone call.
***Severity Clause - A child will be sent to the office immediately for actions including hitting, spitting, biting or any other violent behavior toward teacher or student.
Rewards: Your child can earn Panther Coins by following each of the rules above. These coins are given randomly so your child has to be on his/her best behavior at all times. They never know when I will decide to pass out coins! After your child has earned 15 or more coins he/she will be able to trade them in for a panther dollar to spend at the school store. We will also have special class parties for earning class compliments from other teachers and staff members.
